Welcome to the Northeast Library System wiki. Here you'll find the latest news and information for northeast Nebraska libraries. The Northeast Library System is one of six non-profit corporations. The six systems were established to provide access to improved library services through the cooperation of all types of libraries and media centers within the counties included in each System area. The twenty counties within the Northeast Library System region are: Boyd, Holt, Wheeler, Antelope, Knox, Madison, Boone, Merrick, Nance, Platte, Butler, Polk, Colfax, Wayne, Cedar, Dakota, Thurston, Dixon, Pierce and Stanton.

Northeast Library System Annual Membership Meeting September 19,16, 2009 Lifelong Learning Center, NECC, Norfolk We've got some great guest speakers lined up. Pam Soreide, Holdredge Public Library Director, will speak about the Pioneer Project. This project has libraries moving to Open Source Software. Christa Burns will fill you in on Twitter and Nebase, Richard Miller on orienting those new trustees, Beth Foulks on Book Flix and much more. NLA/NEMA Annual Conference Scholarship Available This year's conference is at the La Vista Conference Center from October 28-30th. The Northeast Library System has scholarship money available for librarians, school media specialists, staff and trustees. Click on the happy dollar to see the application form. One Book One Nebraska Selections One Book One Nebraska 2009 invites citizens across the state to read A Lantern in Her Hand, by Nebraska author Bess Streeter Aldrich. Support materials to assist with reading/discussion activities will be distributed in early 2009.See the Library Commission Blog, http://www.nlc.state.ne.us/blogs/NLC/books_reading for an ongoing discussion of library tools and programming ideas for One Book One Nebraska 2009 or the Bess Streeter Aldrich Foundation, http://www.bessstreeteraldrich.org. The Green Glass Sea by Ellen Klages was selected for this year's One Book One Nebraksa For Kids and nd is aimed at readers in grades 4-6. This book is about Dewey Kerrigan, 11, who travels to New Mexico in 1943 and meets up with her father, who lives on a secret base and is working on a top secret project with a number of other scientists, including J.
