Consulting The System administrator will visit your community or consult with you by telephone or e-mail. The administrator is available to do on-site training and will attend board meetings to discuss library related issues and concerns. All new library directors are encouraged to set up a meeting with the System administrator. You may also schedule a visit to the System office. Samples of policies, reports, long range plans, grant applications, state statutes and many other materials are available on request.
Trustees, Library Friends & other library supporters are encouraged to call the System office at 1-800-578-1014 to obtain information relating to library statistics, statutes, funding, advice on who to contact at the regional and state level regarding library issues.
Continuing Education Classes Throughout the year, the System offers a wide variety of continuing education opportunities for librarians as well as trustees and library supporters. Hour-long, morning, afternoon, day-long and multi-day sessions are available depending on the topics to be covered. For more information contact the System office by phone or e-mail. Regularly scheduled workshops are the Summer Reading Program Workshop in March, the Winter Workshop in February and the Annual Institute in June.

Workshop subject matter is usually based on needs expressed by System members and the necessity for libraries to stay current in today's world. Just a few recent topics have included: Choosing Quality Children's Nonfiction, Library Planning & Budgeting, Librarians & City Clerks Working Together, Using Internet to Teach Library Skills, Computer Networking 101, Planning for Library Technology, Preschool Storytimes, Library Advocacy, Basic Cataloging, Online Databases. Taking advantage of these programs pays big dividends in the form of outstanding library service. The Northeast Library System also cooperates with the other
five regional library systems and with the Nebraska Library Commission, the
Nebraska Library Association and the
Nebraska Education Media Association to provide state-wide workshops, classes and seminars, drawing on the expertise of local, regional, and national presenters. Continuing education opportunities are publicized through the System's
